2007 HORSE OF THE YEAR HONORS COMANCHE TRIBE & CHIEF QUANNAH PARKER

Quannah Parker became chief of the Comanche in 1867 and until 1875 led raids on frontier settlements. A shrewd businessman, he was believed, at one time, to be the wealthiest Indian in the United States.

 

 Star House Horse

     

Quannah Parker had stars painted on the roof of his home to mimic those on the uniforms of the U.S. military officers. The home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
