Photo Journey of Horses in my life
other info. regarding me and my work is written throughout website.
Family vacation out west 1956
mare & foal I drew in School 60's
1st horse"WAY-WE-GO" 1969-1971
Thoughbred off the track, Our dog Buttons and WWG, Sold him to Lipizzon Show, World of Horses
colt I raised from birth "SHARP ENCOUNTER" & "VENUS" (my mare) 1971-1979
I sold Way-We-go so I could buy Venus who was in foal. I wanted my own "Fury"
I quickly learned the difference between fantasy and reality, but it was a very good adventure.
He had quite a mischievous personality so I nicknamed him "Pooper"
RIP 1970's
I didn't own Rip (his owner Bill was in the service) but rode him while my mare was in foal.
One of my favorite horse, a joy to ride, he could everything.
Last picture is a pencil drawing I did of Rip from the photo (I actually forgot that I did it until I found in a box)
"PAL" 1970's
Lesson horse at Nimrod Farms, Oconomowoc, WI 1970's I won a few Blue Ribbons on him
Sadly he died in a fire at farm.
"INC" 1990's
Inc was one of 2 horses I leased at the LA Equestrian Center both thoughbreds off the track.
I really loved this horse. He always bucked after jumps (as you can see from photos of trainer jumping him).
It was quite a challenge to jump him but I never fell off. I really hated to give him up.
1990's
first horse I rode since selling "Pooper" I ended up leasing him.
His owner was the stage manager for the Eagles so she was out of town a lot.
Montana Fall and Spring Round-up 1990's
A fantasy come true-(will write more later)
"Carter" 2007-2008
Great Grandson of Secretariat
I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to ride Carter when his owner, Abbey, had surgery on her leg and couldn't ride. Secretariat was one of my all time favorite horses so I felt honored to be taking care of and riding one of his off-spring.
Carters gaits are wonderful and having not ridden for a few years it was so nice to get on such a wonderful horse.
Unfortunately they had to move him to a stable farther away so I don't get to see or ride him that often anymore.
The last time I rode him I rode bareback (hadn't done that since the 1970's) it felt great.
